In the '60s, the underfloor heating systems were formed by putting electric cable into concrete floors and then treating the floor as if it was a massive storage heater. These systems were uncontrolled. They made the floors uncomfortably hot, were inefficient and ultimately unreliable.
Most modern underfloor heating systems are quite different and are now formed by setting high technology plastic pipe into or just below the floor surface and then circulating warm water through the pipe.
The objective is to warm the whole floor to about 26-28°C which is about the same as the palm of your hand.
The heating system water is provided by the same kind of boiler as a radiator system uses and is circulated by the same kind of pump. With our products, no special plumbing components are used and installation can be confidently undertaken by anyone familiar with radiators.
